So it’s Bulldog’s birthday this week and we are having a few friends over to celebrate! For snacks I am making one of his favourites, a wickedly flavourful cheese dip in a bread bowl. It’s a hit every time I put it out and a special request at family gatherings as well. It pairs great with wings and is an excellent option for Super Bowl parties and potlucks.
Epic Cheese Dip

Prep time: 10 min Cook time: 20 min Total time: 30 min
1 unsliced bread round – sourdough or pumpernickel work great!
1 250g package of cream cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup shredded cheddar
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. minced garlic
1 tsp dill – fresh or dried
2 Tbsp parmesan cheese
3 Tbsp real bacon bits
1 tsp chives
1 tsp green onion
1/2 tsp lemon zest
In true country fashion my herbs and seasonings are grown in my garden and dried to last the winter. I just love that strong fresh smell when I unscrew my jar of dried dill!
Mix all the ingredients in a tall bowl and blend with an immersion blender.
Party prep hint: The ingredients can be mixed ahead of time and stored in the fridge until you are ready to bake.
Cut the top out of the bread and hollow the base out like a bowl. Set the top aside.
Just before your guests are set to arrive pour the cheese mixture into the bread bowl and bake at 350 for 20 min. or until the top of the cheese mixture is a golden brown colour. While the bread bowl with the dip are baking cut the top into bite sized chunks.
When the dip is done take the bread bowl out of the oven and place on a platter. Arrange the bread chunks and extra snacking crackers around the outside. Serve warm. Your guests will love it!
